Richard A. Maurer, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Sunnyside Manor in Wall. He is predeceased by his wife Lorraine of 51 years and his brother William Maurer. Together they had four children; Carol Anne Matthews and her husband James of Wayne, PA, Kathleen Mary Lee and her husband Robert E. Lee of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, Richard M. Maurer and his wife Lisa of Ridgewood, NJ and Annemarie Pagano and her husband Roy of Wayne, NJ. He had eleven grandchildren; Michael, Ryan, Brendan, Catharine, Laura, Nicholas, Tyler, Ava, Daniel and his wife Angela, Christine, Jennifer and fiancé, Ned and his great-grandson, Daniel.

Before moving to Spring Lake Heights, Richard was active in Our Lady of Visitation Parish in Paramus, NJ. He was a lector, a member of the parish council and chairman of the Paramus, Interfaith Council. Richard also taught Religious education to teens for ten years. After moving to Spring Lake Heights, he and his wife were co-presidents of Fairway Mews golf committee. Before taking early retirement he was V.P. of marketing for the Sanforized Company a member of the Cluett Peabody and Company.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall, NJ 07719. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's RC Church, Spring Lake. Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Embracing Hospice, 3349 Route 138, Bldg. D, Suite F, Wall, NJ 07719.
