Richard F. Costello

Lakewood - Richard F. Costello, 89, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Costello was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Seton Hall University. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and he worked for many years in advertising sales with the Los Angeles Times in New York City before retiring 24 years ago.

He and Fran, his loving wife of 64 years, lived in Garden City, NY where they raised their three children before they moved to Lakewood 22 years ago. Since he was a young child he loved spending time nearly every summer of his life at Hunter Lake in Parksville, NY.

Mr. Costello was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Anna Costello. Surviving are his wife, Frances Ann (McAward) Costello; his daughters, Mary Frances Vohden (Jeff) of Chatham and Suzanne Marie Starzynski (James) of Holmdel; his son, Richard Francis Costello, Jr (Brenda) of Glen Cove, NY; and his five grandchildren, Brian, Patrick (Megan), Danny (Kelly), Lucy and Micaela.

Visiting will be on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 3-8pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head. Burial will be private at a later date.
