Richard Francis (Dick) Ehret Obituary
Richard (Dick) Francis Ehret

AGE: 90 • Beaufort, SC

Dick Ehret, 90, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

Dick is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 39 wonderful years, sons Jeff (Mary), Jim (Lori), Pat (Patti), Rich (Leslie), Adam (Carmen), 10 loving grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and extended family. Dick was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Dick graduated from The Lawrenceville School and served in the United States Army during World War II. After his military service, Dick graduated from Lafayette College and began his career at his father's commercial construction company, William C. Ehret Construction, in Trenton, New Jersey, and Wilmington, Delaware. Later, Dick established and retired from Ehret Construction in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. He was a member of the Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware, and Bay Head Yacht Club in Bay Head, New Jersey, for many years.

As an avid golfer, Dick enjoyed both the competition and camaraderie with many friends. He was also a dedicated sports fan, enjoying football, baseball, and basketball...."Go Duke!". Dick and Barbara shared a lifelong passion for sailing together. In his later years, Dick had incredible dedication to his garden and his golden retrievers. Dick was always there to help friends; he had the kindest, most generous heart. He donated to many organizations and would literally do anything for his family to ensure they were happy, healthy and successful.

A special thank you to his caregivers Janette and Mary Beth, Chaplin Neil and the Pruitt Hospice staff for their loving care and support.

A private memorial service will be held for the family.
