AGE: 85 • Forked River

Richard J. Havens, age 85 of Forked River passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday June 1, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was born in the Bronx raised in Hartsdale, NY and formerly of Yorktown Hts, NY before moving to Forked River in 1996. Richard was a switchman for New York Bell for 33 years retiring in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Pius X RC Church and a member of the Fish Hawks, Old Guard of Lacey and American Legion Post #517. Dick enjoyed his N gauge trains as well as Hunting and Fishing.

He is predeceased by his brother Donald. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Mary. Two daughters; Rosemarie and her husband Richard Cunningham and Barbara Havens, four grandchildren; Jennifer, Michelle, Andrew and Kristen and one great grandson Blake, two sisters; Marie Poulin, and Annette Woodruff. He is also survived by many loving family and friends.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and on Monday June 5 from 10:15 till 10:45 am at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9, Forked River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 5 at 11am at St. Pius X RC Church 300 Lacey Road, Forked River. Burial will be held on Thursday, June 8 at 11:30am at B/G William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provence Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Old Guard Scholarship fund C/o Riggs Funeral Home P.O. Box 363, Forked River, NJ 08731 in Mr. Havens' Memory.
