Richard J. Ippolito, Sr.

Manchester Twp. - Richard J. Ippolito, Sr., 74, of Leisure Village West, Manchester Twp. died Sunday March 18, 2018. Richard was born May 31, 1943 in Orange, NJ to Joseph and Margery (Monaghan) Ippolito. He graduated from West Orange High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965, with a tour in Viet Nam. Richard married Suzanne Newman October 7, 1967 in Spring Lake, NJ. He lived in Eatontown from 1967-2006. Richard was an exempt and life member of the Eatontown First Aid Squad, serving as an officer in the squad. He was a charter member of James B. Coyle, Council 12620 Knights of Columbus, Eatontown. Richard worked for NJ Bell, Verizon for 33 years before retiring. Richard moved to Leisure Village West in 2006. He was a parishioner of St. Johns R.C. Church, Lakehurst. Active in his community, he was also a member of LVW First Aid Auxiliary and Genealogy Group. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne (Newman) Ippolito, daughter, Cathy of Wanamassa, son, Rick of Lancaster, PA., brother, William Ippolito and his husband, Tom O'Shea of Gillette, NJ and his pride and joy grandson, Evan Ippolito of Lancaster, PA. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9pm Thursday March 22, 2018 and Friday 9:30-10:30am March 23, 2018 at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am at St. Johns R.C. Church, 619 Chestnut St., Lakehurst with interment to follow with Military Honors at Glendola Cemetery, Wall Twp. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724 or Leisure Village West First Aid Auxiliary, 1 Buckingham Dr., Manchester, NJ 08759.
