Richard "Dick" Joseph Kapps

Red Bank - Richard Kapps, 88, passed away on February 13th at Riverview Hospital, Red Bank. He was born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, NY.

He graduated from Seton Hall with a degree in Finance; served in U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953; then joined Bell Telephone Laboratories working in the financial area; later became a Property Manager setting up service organizations for numerous Bell Laboratories' properties; retired in 1989. He was a member of the Red Bank Elks Lodge #233 and served as a Past District Deputy for the BPOE.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Mary Magnuson; son, Bob Higgins and his wife Shauna; three grandchildren, Bobby, Dakota and Ricky and one great-grandson, Breyden; step-daughter Amie Michalski, her husband, Michael and two granddaughters, Allie and Ashlie and nieces and nephews. Richard is predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Richard Kapps, Sr., brother, William Kapps and step-son Bill Heidel.

Visitation will be held on Sunday February 18, 2018 from 2- 6 PM at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday February 19th at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #233, Handicapped Children's Fund, 40 W. Front St., Red Bank, NJ 07701.
