Robert D. "Bob" Geck

Toms River - Robert D. "Bob" Geck, 75, of Toms River, N.J. died peacefully Sunday at his home in Toms River, N.J. after a courageous, and hard fought battle with cancer.

Born in Irvington, N.J., He was the son of the late Walter and Grace Geck. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and cherished his family above all else. He loved spending time with his grandchildren at every opportunity. He married Margaret "Peg" McGeehan in 2015 and they settled in Toms River. Although their time together was short, they were happy, and loved each other dearly. He loved the New Jersey shore, and spent many years there fishing and just enjoying the outdoors. Bob also loved the company of his friends, and enjoyed many get togethers and dinner parties with them. He was very active at the church soup kitchen and also served as an usher for St. Vincent de Paul. He was always willing to help others.

Bob resided in Union, N.J. most of his life and graduated from Union High School. He entered the Army National Guard soon after graduation, and served as a sharpshooter. He was employed by Verizon as a lineman for over 30 years, retiring in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Peg, two sons, Scott and wife Sara of Jefferson Township, P.A., and Jason and wife Gabrielle of West Deptford, N.J. He had five grandchildren, Matthew, Noah, Andrew, Ella, and Evangeline. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Geck of Southport, N.C., and two nephews, Chris and Mark Geck.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Geck, and granddaughters, Emma and Adeline.

A funeral will be held at Visitation Roman Catholic Church, 755 Mantoloking Road, Brick, N.J. 08723 on Monday, August 13th at 11 AM.
