AGE: 77 • Point Pleasant

Robert Edward Plum, 77, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.

Robert was born on December 31, 1939 at Point Pleasant Hospital. He was brought into this world by Dr. Ralph Appleton and was the first son of Henry and Grace Plum. He grew up on Lakewood Road (Route 88) in what was known at the time as, "West Point Pleasant." He graduated from Ocean Road Elementary School in 1955 and four years later from Point Pleasant Beach High School, Class of 1959.

After high school, he embarked on a forty year career working at Mr. Lustre-PJ's Car Wash Park. He took great pride in his job as the chief vacuum specialist. After retirement he helped out at the West Side - Shore House Tavern and sang Karaoke every Tuesday night. His favorite sons to sing were, "In the Still of the Night" by The Five Satins and "Da' Ya' Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart.

He was predeceased by his father, Henry Charles Plum and mother, Grace Rosalie Seiler Plum.

He is survived by his brother, Warren G. Plum of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his nephew, Keith Plum; niece, Dawn Plum; and cousins, Brenda Klenna, Arlene Lockhart, and Patricia Dowd.

His family would like to thank all the staff at Claremont Care Center for the wonderful care he received for the past three years. He made many new friends there and was loved by all, and to his long-time friend, James Coleman, Bronx, NY for all his visits.

Visitation will be from 1 - 4 p.m., Sunday, May 28 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jersey Shore Animal Center, 185 Brick Blvd., Brick, NJ 08723
