AGE: 77 • Hazlet

Robert Foster, 77, of Hazlet, NJ, passed away on April 23, 2017 after a courageous battle with ALS at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. He was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Middletown most of his life. Bob graduated Middletown High School in 1958 where he played football and continued to play semi-pro football for the New York Giants farm team. In 1997, Bob and his son Edward were the first father-son duo to be inducted into the Lion Hall of Fame. He served his community as a Middletown police officer and later worked as a dockbuilder for Local Union 1456. He was a member of the Middletown Elks for 26 years. After his retirement, they spent winters in Florida and resided in Hazlet NJ. Bob was a devoted family man and especially loved spending time with his four grandchildren.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Arlene; his two sons, Robert and DiAnn Foster, Eddie and Susan Foster; grandchildren, Susan, RJ, Brittany, and Eric; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Aubrianna; his beloved dog, Teddy. Also surviving is his brother, James Foster; sister, Maureen Doyle; his special niece, Terry; and his life long best friend, Buddy Hahn. Special thanks to Jackie Caddle and Andy Malinconico for there devoted time and kindness. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Jack Foster; and his sister, Patricia Foster.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, from 6-9pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home on 115 Tindall Road in Middletown NJ. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
