Robert J. DeHanes Sr.

Bayville - Robert J. DeHanes, Sr., age 79, of Bayville, NJ, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021.

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was a longtime resident before moving to Bayville 15 years ago.

Robert was a graduate of Monmouth College, receiving his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Mathematics.

He began his teaching career with the Edison School System, teaching math at Edison High School and retiring from J.P. Stevens High School as Chairman of the Math Department.

Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Clementine, and his son Robert, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Cecilia (nee Hourahan); a son Richard DeHanes, a daughter Randi Malinowsky, three grandchildren Ava Francesca, Nicholas and Danielle, two great-grandchildren Liberty and Justice, three stepchildren Richard Graham, Brien, and John Longobardi, two step-grandchildren Richard, Christopher, and Kevin and two brothers Kenneth and John DeHanes.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 7, 2021 9:00am - 10:15 am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O'Connell Chapel, 706 Hwy 9, Bayville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am at St. Barnabas RC Church, Bayville, NJ. Entombment to follow at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, NJ.

There are way too many great Memories I have of Mr. DeHanes. From camping, going in their pool and always being welcomed into their home. Some of the greatest memories of my life! Rest in peace Mr. DeHanes. You certainly were a positive Roll model in my life.
