AGE: 71 • Bayonne

Robert John Timothy Gleeson "Red", 71; passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on September 27th.

Born in Jersey City to parents Rita (Nee:Joyce) and Mortimer Gleeson, Bob attended St. Aedan's Grammar School, St. Joseph's High School in West New York, and St. Peter's College, and has resided in Bayonne for over 40 years.

As a young man, Bob was renowned for his extraordinary athletic abilities and competitive heart; he excelled in virtually every sport in which he competed. He was admired for his brilliance in areas as diverse as both classical and "doo wop" music, WWII history, and British drama.

Bob began his Mathematics teaching career at St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City

where he is warmly remembered as an exceptionally caring and generous faculty member, beloved by both students and colleagues. After 32 years at St. Al's, he continued his teaching career at Hudson Catholic High School and was recognized for his 10 years of service.

The records he has left behind reveal his exceptional generosity to those in need; countless numbers of people locally and globally have benefitted from his lifelong anonymous, generous contributions. He was predeceased by his Brother, Edward and his Mother and Father. Bob is survived by his devoted Sister, Rosemary Gleeson and many loving Cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4th from 3 - 7 the G. Keenen O'Brien Funeral Home, 984 Avenue C, Bayonne. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 5th at 10 AM at St. Vincent's Church {please go directly there in the morning}. Interment to follow, Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
