AGE: 96 • Toms River

Robert L. Berry passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was 96.

Born in West New York, NJ, He lived in Bogota N.J. for 46 years before moving to Silver Ridge Park Westerly in 1983.

Prior to retiring, He was a Metal Lather foreman and Estimator and worked for John Melen Inc. in New York City for 38 years, retiring in 1984 and a graduate of Mechanics Institute of New York.

He was a Master Sergeant in the Marine Corps during World War 2, and served in the Pacific area.

Robert was an Exempt Volunteer Fireman of New Jersey. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 8352. He was also a former President of the Silver Ridge Park Westerly Golf Club and Computer Club and Past Treasurer of the Bowling League, and member of the Men's Club.

He was predeceased by his wife Elise Berry who died in 2010

Robert is survived by a son Robert of Centreville, VA. A daughter Lois Kohles and her husband Gary of Ortley Beach. 5 grandchildren: Ryan, Lauren, Gary, Brian & Kristen. 8 great-grandchildren: Jason, Brielle, Samantha, Addison, Greyson, Evan, Allison & Adam. He is also survived by his companion Marjorie Webster

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Ridge Park First Aid Squad, 39 Millbrook Drive, Toms River, NJ 08757.
