Union Beach - Robert "Bob" Reit, 85, of Union Beach, NJ, died on Monday, February 19, 2018. He lived in Highland Park, New Brunswick, Edison, Somerset and Holmdel before moving to Union Beach 15 years ago. He received his B.S. Degree in Bacteriology from Rutgers University. During college, he served in the ROTC as a first lieutenant and captain. He was a born entrepreneur and had many businesses throughout his life including being a co-owner of the Wai-O-Kane, a luncheonette and ice cream parlor in Highland Park and 1001 Auto Parts, a successful chain of auto parts stores in NJ for 35 years. He saw everyday life as an endless adventure and loved to study philosophy, politics, and herbal medicine on his beloved iPhone.

Bob was predeceased by his wife Carol. He is survived by his daughters Susan Nordstrom, Jill Reit, and Kim Reit; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Julie Reit; son Robert Reit; grandchildren Tyler, Matt, Alex, and Kat Nordstrom; Becca, Nick, Jenna and Maddie Reit; 1 great-grandchild Everly Nordstrom; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life for Bob will be held in the Spring.
