Bob was born in Montclair, NJ and raised in Bloomfield, NJ then moved to North Carolina and back to Parsippany, NJ then Berkeley Twsp., NJ 12 years ago.

He received his Bachelor Degree from Bloomfield College.

He was an Accountant with Federal Pacific Electric in Newark, NJ and retired from Ashland Chemical in Boonton, NJ.

He was a member of the Melodier's in Holiday City Berkeley.

Predeceased by his parents Homer and Helen (Bugash) Heckel and his brother Richard "Rick" Heckel.

Surviving is his loving wife of 18 years Patricia (Pfrang) Heckel; his 3 children Robert Heckel Jr. and his wife Kristi of Raleigh, NC, Lori Madeline and her husband Lee of Greenville, SC and Susan Heckel of Leonardo, NJ; Patricia's children Robert Wagner and his wife Cynthia of Red bank, NJ, David Wagner and his wife Colleen of West Orange, NJ and Michael Wagner and his wife Donna of Boonton, NJ; his sister Arnie Stern and her husband Gary of Newton, NJ; his sister in law Nettie Heckel of Brick, NJ and eleven grandchildren Emily, Blake, Allison, Julieanne, Elisabeth, Eva, Ethan, Zachary, Jane, Charlotte, and Marisa.

Family will receive friends on Thursday April 20, 2017 for a Memorial Gathering from 11am to 1pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Robert's memory to at . Please visit our website for complete details at
