Rumson - After a long and happy life, Robert Slavin, age 85, of Rumson, NJ, passed away at home on January 30, 2018. He was born in Elizabeth on October 7, 1932, and graduated from Seton Hall University. He proudly served his country by four years of naval service during the Korean conflict. He founded Bob Slavin Enterprises after graduation and became a manufacturers' agent in the hotel and restaurant industry. Sixteen years later he founded the Clean Air Company solving industrial indoor air pollution problems. Rob loved to travel and enjoyed numerous trips to Europe with his wife, Lori, and vacationing each winter for a month in Cabo, Mexico. He also enjoyed playing golf for the competition and camaraderie with his many friends.

Rob was predeceased by his parents, Glady and Vincent dePaul Slavin, his brother, Vincent Slavin, and his sister, Mary Slavin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Lori Slavin, and his step-children Laura Gambacorto (husband Alan) and Daniel Lynch (wife Elizabeth). He is also survived by his loving sister, Muriel Smith, his former wife, Kathleen Slavin, and their children, Karen Barber (husband Rich), Kevin Slavin and Gregory Slavin (wife Heather). He is also survived by the nicest grandchildren God ever created: Christopher (wife Allison), Kaitlin and Sean Barber, Meghan, Kevin, Devon and Brandon Slavin; Heather and Chris Gambacorto and Jack and Vaughn Lynch. He was a very generous and loving grandfather to them all and will be greatly missed for his words of wisdom and encouragement.

In respect of Rob's wishes, cremation and burial will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3rd at 10 am at Holy Cross Church, 30 Ward Ave, Rumson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27105, New York, NY 10117-2504.
