Rodger Roy Rohde, Sr.

Rodger Roy Rohde, Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully from cancer, at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, NJ, surrounded by his family, on Friday, June 16, 2017. Born on November 17, 1941, to George and Evelyn Rohde, Rodger was the second of five children. A resident of Sarasota, FL, he and his wife, Beverly, were married for 55 years and, together, they had three children and eight grandchildren. A celebrated entrepreneur, Rodger founded Triarco Industries - a leading supplier of ingredients for the nutritional supplements industry - in 1978, after rising through the ranks of a variety of notable companies including IFF, Meer Corporation and Gentry. Rodger retired in 2012, after selling Triarco to a multinational corporation, allowing him to spend time on his favorite hobbies, including reading and boating. A man who cherished his family, he was known for his charm, sense of humor, encyclopedic knowledge of '50s music and classic cars, his love of the water and his boundless generosity. A true American success story, Rodger always extended a hand to those in need. He will be deeply missed. Rodger is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Rodger R. Rohde, Jr. and his wife, Deborah, his daughter Cynthia J. Rohde Shap and her husband, Gary, his son Christopher J. Rohde and his wife, Karen, his grandchildren Zachary, Blake, Ian, Chandler, Mackenzie, Ethan, Graham and Beverly, his sister Priscilla Kolodziej and her husband, Joseph, his brother Douglas Rohde and his wife, Irma and his sister Denise Pruitt and her husband, Dudley; Rodger is also survived by several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews; he was pre-deceased by his sister Deborah Shook. A visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mary Help of Christians Chapel, 659 Belmont Ave., North Haledon, NJ 07508. Interment will be private. Rodger was a passionate supporter of Mary Help of Christians Academy, www.maryhelp.org and the Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone, www.nyulangone.org/cancer/doctors, 550 First Avenue New York, NY 10016. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to either organization in Rodger's memory would be appreciated.
