Rosalia Lutrias Bulvanoski Obituary
Rosalia Lutrias Bulvanoski

AGE: 95 •

Rosalia (Roz) Lutrias Bulvanoski, age 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 9, in Lakewood, NJ. Born in Fords, NJ, Roz graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1938 and then received her Associates degree from a local community college. As a stay-at-home mother of three, she later completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, her Master of Arts degree in Special Education, and her certification as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) from Kean University. Always passionate about learning, Roz imparted this passion to her elementary school students, serving as an LDTC in the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District and at the Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center, formerly in Farmingdale. Though offered a position as a Director at Arthur Brisbane, Roz declined, allowing her more time to spend with her family. She then served as a teacher of neurologically impaired children in Hazlet, from 1971 until her retirement. After retirement, Roz and her husband, Steve, lived in Wilmington, VT; Venice, FL; Brick and Lakewood, NJ, playing tennis frequently and occasionally traveling. Additionally, Roz was an accomplished quilter. She shared her beautiful and creative quilts with all of the members of her family, who will cherish them as family heirlooms to remember her by. Roz also enjoyed painting, going to tag sales—where she loved "getting a good deal"-- and reading. In her mid-nineties, she was reading a book per week, choosing from an array of topics that interested her. Throughout the later years of her life, Roz eagerly looked forward to visits from her children and their spouses, and from her seven grandchildren and their spouses, boyfriends, and girlfriends. She also enjoyed the times when her son Mark brought his champion Munsterlander hunting dogs to visit. Fortunately, Roz was able to celebrate this past Thanksgiving with her entire family—all of her children and grandchildren—as well as with extended family and friends. She had a wonderful time, and her family will always be grateful for this final memory.

Roz was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, J. Stephen Bulvanoski. She is survived by her daughter, Rosalia Barnes; sons, Stephen and Mark Bulvanoski; son-in-law, Craig Barnes; daughter-in-law; Dee Bulvanoski; and grandchildren Bianca Barnes Klingensmith (and husband Matthew), Thomas Barnes, and Diana Barnes; Patrick (and wife Melissa) Bulvanoski, Erin Bulvanoski, Kevin Bulvanoski, and Sean Bulvanoski. Additionally, Roz is survived by the family of her sister Amelia, who pre-deceased her; and by her loving sister-in-law, Evelyn Lorentzen; nieces June Eipert and Kim Lorentzen; nephew David Lorentzen; and their spouses and families.

A mass of Christian burial will be offered on December 15 at 11 am at Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach. The celebrant will be pastor Fr. Bob Kaeding, at Roz's request. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. WC Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish elementary school in Haiti, would be very much appreciated. Contributions should be made out to Church of the Precious Blood - Haiti, 72 Riverdale Ave, Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750.
