AGE: 74 • West Long Branch

Rosalyn Samuel Fisher, 74 of West Long Branch, died on November 29th, at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York City.

Mrs. Fisher was born and raised in Lynn, Ma, where she graduated Classical High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree and her Master's degree in Remedial Reading from Boston University. She taught in the Lynn public schools before moving to West Long Branch. She then taught in the Long Branch Public Schools and retired after 26 years of teaching at the Hillel Yeshiva, Ocean.

She was a member of the Congregation Brothers of Israel Synagogue, Long Branch, where she had served on the Board of Directors. Mrs. Fisher served several terms as the President and Treasurer of the Sisterhood. For many years she was the chairwoman of the annual rummage sale at the Synagogue.

Roz enjoyed her exercise class at the Long Branch Senior Center. She was an avid reader and maintained her membership and friendship's in her book club. She was a member of a Mah Jongg club for 45 years. Along with her husband Monty, they were members in a couple's club, that played Trivial Pursuit together for years.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Sarah and Reuben Samuel and her sister-in-law, Susan Samuel.

Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Monroe " Monty" Fisher; their children, Dr. Donna and Jason Shimshi, Bethesda, MD and Steven and Dr. Alana Fisher, Teaneck, NJ; her brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Ellen Samuel, Oakhurst; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Bruce and Doris Fisher, Edison; six grandchildren, Rina, Celia and Eliana Shimshi, Ben, Daniella and Leora Fisher; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services, Thursday, December 1st, 11 am at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Brothers of Israel Cemetery. Donations in Roz's memory may be made to the Congregation Brothers of Israel , 250 Park Avenue, Elberon, NJ 07740.
