Roy Allen Smith Obituary
Roy Allen Smith

AGE: 74 • Toms River

Roy Allen Smith, 74, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home in the arms of his loving family.

He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Suzanne Smith; their children, Allen Smith and his wife Dawn; Jennifer Binkley and her husband Scott, and April Segal and her husband Eric; their grandchildren, Cally, Brandy, Brittany, Sydney, Ryan, Aubrey, Emmet, Ozzie and Arlo; his sister-in-law Kathy Yorg and her husband Fred; countless friends and not a single enemy.

Roy was an incredibly talented musician, craftsman, artist, friend, father and husband. His band The Rusty Chain with friends Charlie, Jack and Doug, was a well-loved act in the Tri-state area. He loved working on his classic 1967 Mustang, writing and performing music, crafting fine furniture and musical instruments, making beautiful toys for his children and grandchildren, painting and drawing.

He adored animals and nature, being with his friends and family and telling, what he thought were, hilarious jokes. He once walked into the room, holding a pocket watch to his hip, singing "Time Is On My Side"...need I say more?

He was fascinated by UFOs, ghosts and other supernatural phenomena. Whenever he would go under anesthesia for a procedure, he would say "If I don't wake up, I'll see you on Ghosthunters.". So if you're a fan of the show, perhaps you'll spot him in an upcoming episode.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Baldrick's Foundation for childhood cancer research, Wounded Warrior Project, your local volunteer fire company or your favorite animal shelter. Most importantly, do whatever wonderful thing you love to do and share it with as many people as you can.

Hope to see you on Ghosthunters, Dad!
