Ocean Grove

Ruth (nee Lagotta) LaVecchia of Ocean Grove, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2017. Ruth was born and raised in East Rutherford New Jersey. Ruth married James LaVecchia, the love of her life, and moved to Wood-Ridge, New Jersey to raise their two daughters. Ruth and Jim retired to Melbourne Beach, Florida where they enjoyed life at the beach for 20 years. Ruth was a member of the Catholic daughters, an active volunteer at Assumption Parish in Wood-Ridge and an avid bowler. She retired as office manager of Scientific Chemical where she worked for 10 years. More than anything, Ruth loved her family and enjoyed being of service to her friends and neighbors. Her laughter was contagious and she always made others feel welcome in her life. Ruth will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents Sylvester and Natalie Lagotta, her brother Sylvester Lagotta, and her husband James LaVecchia. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joan and Richard Angelicola, her daughter and son-in-law Denise and Kenneth Yee, her grandchildren Anthony and Julie Angelicola, Alexander and Christian Yee, Sylvester DiPalermo and his wife Suzy and two great grandchildren Joseph and Santino DiPalermo as well as her sister, Beatrice Hurd.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday January 26 from 4 -7 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 am on Friday January 27 at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. Interment will be at Brig. Gen William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
