AGE: 96 • Tinton Falls

Salvatore John Ripandelli, 96 of Tinton Falls died on Friday, August 25th at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

Mr. Ripandelli was born in Long Branch to Mary Ferrante and Felix Ripandelli and lived in Long Branch most of his life. Mr. Ripandelli was a graduate of Long Branch High School. He was a 1943 graduate of Georgetown University and received his Master's in Education degree from Rutgers University in 1960.

He was drafted in 1943 during World War II attaining the rank of captain in the Signal Corps and was assigned to the US Army training group AFWES Pac in the Philippines.

Following his military service, Mr. Ripandelli went to work for the Department of Defense, U.S. Signal School at Ft. Monmouth, Instructional Methods Division for 30 years, where he became the Chief of the division.

He also served as an adjunct professor at Monmouth College and the New York Institute of Technology. He was the President of the Long Branch Adult School for three years. Mr. Ripandelli also conducted special training for the NJ State Police.

Mr. Ripandelli was an avid golfer and a member of Suneagles Officer Club, Ft. Monmouth, where he had five holes in one. He enjoyed teaching golf to his granddaughters and for several years coached little league baseball.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Felix and Mary, a brother Frank Ripandelli, his sisters, Rose De Fazio and Corrine Vonella and in May of 2016 his granddaughter, Elizabeth Cox.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Cittadino Ripandelli; his daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Stuart Cox, Little Silver; his granddaughter Dr. Mary Jude Cox Hoffman and her husband John Hoffman; his great grandchildren, John Stuart Hoffman and Margaret Jude Hoffman; a very close nephew, John Vonella, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation Tuesday August 29th, 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Mass of Christian burial, Wednesday August 30th, 10:00 am, at the Church of the Nativity, Hance and Ridge Road, Fair Haven. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
