AGE: 96 • Highlands

Shirley Florence (Parker) DeCamp, 96 of Highlands, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2016 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ.

Born on December 25, 1919 to Florence E. (Deckert) Parker & William Frank Parker in Highlands and lived most of her life in the home she was born in.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Florence E. (Deckert) & William Frank Parker, sisters Marjorie (Parker) Nichols and Muriel (Parker) Patterson, a brother-in-law Joseph Patterson and son-in-law Richard A. Ledergerber, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Anne (DeCamp) Ledergerber, 3 grandchildren; Lore (Ledergerber) Raimondi, Richard A. Ledergerber, Jr. & Steven J. Ledergerber. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

Shirley graduated from Atlantic Highlands High School in 1936. From there she became an employee of the Federal Government, first working for the Draft Board in Atlantic Highlands, then Fort Hancock (US Army) on Sandy Hook, NJ and retiring in 1976 from Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, NJ where she was employed in the offices pertaining to finance & budgeting.

Shirley enjoyed an active life of travel throughout the US and abroad. A favorite "local destination" was always Atlantic City

She was an active member for many years in the Highlands Community Center as well as the Highlands Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed ceramics, bingo, reading and most of all time spent with friends and family.

A beautiful soul, she was generous, kind and always had a "nugget" of wisdom to share along with an encouraging word.

Words cannot fully express our gratitude, as her family, for having been blessed to share in this lifetime with her. We are truly enriched by her presence in our lives.

Relatives & friends are invited to call at Posten's Funeral Home, 59 E. Lincoln Ave. at Central & E. Garfield Ave. Atlantic Highlands, NJ on Friday from 10 - 11:30 AM and attend funeral services at 11 :30 AM with interment to follow in Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo, NJ.
