Susan DeSisto passed away on August 30, 2017 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Brick, NJ. Susan was born Susina Paciello in East Orange, NJ to Carmela Pasapane and Raffaele Paciello on February 17, 1921, the 3rd of 9 children.

She grew up in East Orange and the Vailsburg section of Newark and went to West Side High School until she started working as a seamstress with her mother in local tailor shops in Newark.

Susan married Faust DeSisto on September 21, 1941 and had two children, Elisabeth and Eric. They resided in Newark until 1953 moving to East Orange until 1968, when Susan and Faust entered the restaurant business in Haledon, NJ owning and operating the Piedmont Restaurant until 1975. They moved to Forked River and eventually to The Original Leisure Village in Lakewood, NJ.

Susan was predeceased by her husband, Faust in June of 2014 and her daughter, Elisabeth this past June. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Dolores Van Horn, Margaret Petrozello and Francis Foglia and brothers, Vincent and George Paciello.

Surviving are her son, Eric and his wife Camille from Manchester, NJ, a granddaughter, Alicia Daly and her husband Michael of Hawthorne, NJ, a great-granddaughter, Ashley Rowett and her husband Anthony of Semmes, Alabama, and 2 great-great-grandsons, Anthony and Landry.

Also surviving are her sisters, Bessie Stasuzzo, Esther Armenti and Linda Mitola and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and services will be held at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, NJ on Tuesday, September 5th from 4-8 PM. Private burial services will be held the following day at the honorable, Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the Downs Syndrome Society of Mobile, DSSM, c/o MARR, 2827 Airport Blvd., Mobile, AL 36606. www.silvertonmemorial.com
