Susan (Mancuso) Michnewich Obituary
Susan (Mancuso) Michnewich

AGE: 93 • Aberdeen

It is with great sorrow that Susan (Mancuso) Michnewich, 93, has past away peacefully, in the presence of her family on October 1st, 2017. She was born November 1, 1923 to Marco Mancuso and Vincenza (Scandarito) Mancuso in Brooklyn, New York. While a young girl on 7th Street, she attended St Simon and Jude elementary school. Later she attended Lafayette High School. Susan and her family moved to what was once considered the silk stocking district of Ocean Parkway, Brooklyn. It was there that the family was known for having the five most beautiful daughters in the neighborhood. Susan's one and only job was at Ohrbach's Department store in Manhattan. There, she met her best friend Sophie Kalaka, who introduced her to the love of her life, her future husband, Al Michnewich on the beaches of Coney Island.

Susan was a warm, nurturing person who did everything for her family, as well as for others. She made every holiday special, was well known for her dinner parties with her abundance of Italian food, impeccable fashion sense, and her beautifully appointed home. Susan resided in the Strathmore section of Aberdeen for 55 years, as an original owner in the development. Together, Sue and Al traveled the country extensively, and enjoyed retirement seeing their grandchildren grow up to be the wonderful young men they are today.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, Marco and Vincenza Mancuso, her husband of 60 years, Al (2012), her only son, Alexander Michnewich (2013), infant daughter, Tonya (1960), as well as her sisters and brother-in-law's Ann ad Charles Surrusco, Joan and Dick Coppola, Jean and Jim Ennis, Florence and Peter Paladini, one brother Anthony Mancuso, and her best friend Sophie Kalaka. Susan is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Bill Tipton, Colts Neck, daughter-in-law Susan Michnewich, Maryland, and two grandsons, Lt. Daniel and Olesia Michnewich, Monterey, California, and Matthew Michnewich and his fiancé Ali Rodriguez of Pasadena, California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved very much. And a person who was the most wonderful friend throughout the last 55 years, Regina Holland. Together they shared the love of family, holidays, a trip to Bermuda for their 25th anniversary, and a devoted love of the church. Last, but not least, one survivor, who can't be forgotten, is the love she had for Patches, her daughter's beagle who, along with Al would take to Holmdel Park and the beach on a regular basis.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 5th from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm at Waitt Funeral Home 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751 732-566-5300. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Friday, October 6th at 9:15am at St Catharine's R.C., 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Interment to follow at St Gabriel's Cemetery 549 County Road 520, Marlboro Township, NJ. Condolences may be made online at www.waittfh.com.
