Teresa Schindler, age 92, of Lakewood, passed away on October 20, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Teresa was born in Johnson City, NY on October 2, 1925 to the late Mary (Cocchiara) and Carmine Stamato. Teresa was raised in Binghamton, NY and Long Branch, NJ. She was later a resident of Atlantic Highlands, Little Silver, and Shrewbury, NJ, and Titsuville, FL, before moving to Lakewood in 1997. Teresa was a retired bookkeeper from Fort Monmouth. She enjoyed baking, traveling, and caring for her family. She loved to work with her hands and, as a crafting enthusiast, she was skilled at knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was involved in several clubs in the Leisure Village community and will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.

Teresa was predeceased by her husband, William Schindler, Sr.; her son, David R. Schindler; and her brother, Anthony Stamato.

She is survived by her children: William Schindler, Jr., his wife Barrett, and Edward Schindler, his wife Judy; her grandchildren: William Schindler III, his wife Christina, Heather Freeman, her husband Larry, Christine Keneally, her husband Anthony, Edward J. Schindler, his wife Dina, and Brian R. Schindler, his wife Heidi; her brother, John Stamato, his wife Patricia; her sister-in-law, Gloria Stamato; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
