AGE: 79 NEPTUNE
Thelma M. Bacon, 79, of Neptune, passed away into God's loving arms with her children by her side on Sunday, March 21, 2010. She was born Aug. 11, 1930 in Ward, S.C. to John and Mittie Mitchell. She was raised in Florida and New Jersey. She graduated from Freehold High School and went on to attend Hampton University. She wed Paul W. Bacon and from their union eight children was born. She retired after 37 years of employment from Fort Monmouth, New Jersey as an administrative assistant. During her long retirement, she enjoyed reading, bowling, her special TV shows and traveling in the U.S. and abroad with her sister, Mary.
She is predeceased by her husband of 30 years; and her eldest son, Paul (Bunny) Bacon. She leaves to celebrate her life seven children, Barbara Glover, Gail Davis, Sheree, Gregory, Pamela, Kenneth and Michael Bacon. She is survived by two sisters, Flemon Glover and Mary Harrison; 3 daughters-in-law, Cynthia, Angela and Linda; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 26 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 61A Cherry St., Tinton Falls. Rev. Robert Perkins will be officiating. James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements. Flowers and words of condolences may be sent to the church.
