AGE: 55 • Old Bridge

Thomas A. Barrett, 55, of Old Bridge, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick. Tom was surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His faith in Jesus was steadfast and he lived each day to the fullest.

Born and raised in Staten Island, NY , Tom moved to Old Bridge, NJ in 1987 with his wife Kim.

A graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and English, he was a Vice President with Citigroup in NYC for nearly 27 years.

Tom enjoyed gardening and working on Jeeps with his son Thomas. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Together they traveled on cruises, to Hawaii and many other destinations. Tom was a member of St. Ambrose Church where his greatest joy was serving as an Eucharistic Minister, For many years Tom volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as a Mentor for many young Scouts and through his devotion several Scouts achieved the rank of Eagle. He also helped run several Merit Badge Fairs which enabled Scouts to earn thousands of badges essential to their rank advancements.

Tom willingly gave of himself and always put others ahead of his own needs.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruno Fang of Regional Cancer Care Associates and the nursing staff at Robert Wood Johnson for providing exceptional and compassionate care in his final days.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 32 years, Kim, his amazing son Thomas E. Barrett, as well as a sister, Laura Jean Silsbee. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas P. and Gilda Barrett.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Route 516, Old Bridge, NJ on Thursday January 26, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:30am at St, Ambrose Church, Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge, NJ. Cremation will be private.
