Formerly of West Long Branch

Thomas D. O'Rorke, formerly of West Long Branch passed away at Preferred Care in Wall following a recent illness.

Tom worked for many years at J.F. Kiely Construction Company retiring in 2000 as a supervisor. He served his community for many years as a Fireman and First Aid Squad member and was Fire Chief in 1973 of the West Long Branch Fire Company where he served as an exempt member of Borough Chemical Company #1.

Tom's lifelong passion was auto racing and was Chief Pit Steward at Wall Stadium for over 35 years. Over the years he also officiated at various racetracks in New Jersey including East Windsor Speedway and New Egypt Speedway. He was a member of the New Jersey State auto racing division which promoted racing safety. Tom was inducted into the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club Hall of Fame in 1994. After his retirement from active officiating, Tom enjoyed traveling to racetracks throughout the county with Linda to watch their grandson, Kyle race Sprint Cars.

Tom was predeceased by his parents; his first wife Marian D. O'Rorke and his brother Donald. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, his daughter Susan and her fiancée Bernard Bailey; his son Dennis and Paul Marie and Dawn Reinhardt and Dave; his granddaughters Amanda, Shawna, Kimberly, AnnMarie and his grandsons David, Kyle and Mark. He was very proud of all of them. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Geise and Jean Whiting and sisters-in-law Eleanor Hagerman and Priscilla McClaren and many lifelong friends he considered family. Tom will be missed by his two "girls" Maggie and Molly who he was always anxious to see when he returned home from rehab.

Visitation Friday, November 10th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral service Saturday, November 11th 10 am at the funeral home. Interment Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
