Veronica (Ronnie) Tretola

Holmdel - Veronica (Ronnie) Tretola, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018 at The Willows at Holmdel, NJ. Ronnie was born in Newark, NJ in 1924. She lived in East Orange, West Orange and Newark, before moving to Matawan (Strathmore), where she resided for almost 50 years. Ronnie was employed at Westinghouse in Bloomfield in her early years. She then worked as a secretary at O.I. Lily Tulip in Holmdel from 1963 to 1981. After retiring, she devoted her time as a volunteer at St. Benedict Food Pantry and at Bayshore Community Hospital. In recognition of her volunteer work, Ronnie was named the Bayshore Community Health Services 2004 Volunteer of the Year, and was honored as a Hometown Hero from the Asbury Park Press. Ronnie was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Joseph Tretola in 1988, parents, Albert E. and Elizabeth (Murphy) Schiller, and brother, Albert (Buddy). She is survived by her beloved children, son Joseph and his wife, Betsy; son Thomas and his wife, Patricia; and daughter Judy Smith and her husband, Kevin; her loving granddaughters Jessica Reithinger and her husband Steve, and Allison Smith, and two great-grandsons, Logan and Gavin Reithinger. Ronnieâ™s family is grateful to The Willows staff for the extraordinary care they provided. Visitation will be Thursday, July 12, 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Hwy 79, Morganville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 13, 10:00am at St. Benedict Catholic Parish, 165 Bethany Rd., Holmdel, NJ. Interment will take place privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Benedict Food Pantry, 165 Bethany Rd., Holmdel, NJ.
