AGE: 82 • Lakewood

Vincent Dicks, age 82 of Lakewood passed away August 27, 2017 at the Acute Care Specialty Hospital @ Kimball, Lakewood.

Vinnie was born in West Brighton on Staten Island NY in 1934 as the 8th of 11 children of Teresa and Joseph Dicks. He loved baseball. After 4 years of captaining his Saint Peter's HS team, he played for the Journal American All-Stars against the US HS National team before serving two years touring France and Germany as part of the US Army's effort to promote the game in the years after WWII. He lost his wife of 58 years, Irene G. Dicks, this past May. The couple married in 1958 and raised their four children in Eltingville.

He worked at Procter and Gamble at Port Ivory for 32 years. He assisted with Susan Wagner HS football and served as President of Holy Child's St. Vincent dePaul Society, attending funerals for those dying without family. Retiring to Four Seasons in Lakewood NJ, he played golf as much as he could, surrounded by many fine friends.

He leaves daughter, Patricia A. Devine and husband Kevin of Middletown, a son, Vincent J. Dicks and wife Denise of Sea Girt, daughter Ellen R. Shorosky and husband Robert of Manchester, and daughter Irene T. Ryan and husband Gerard of Downingtown PA. Vinnie was a loving Gramps to Kevin, Timothy, Sean, Patrick, and Daniel Devine, Amanda Moore, and Andrew Dicks, Ryan, Kate, and Erin Shorosky, Eric and Mary Ryan, and six great grandchildren. He leaves two surviving sisters Mary Magnuski and Kay Adinolfi, sister & brother in-laws, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation is at Silverton Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd, Toms River, NJ on Wednesday August 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. There will be a funeral mass at Holy Family Chapel, 9:30 AM Thursday1143 E. County Line Road Lakewood, and interment at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
