AGE: 88 • Brick

Walter F. Planer, Sr., 88 of Brick passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Walter was born and raised in Irvington and moved to Belmar along with his mother after graduating from high school. He had lived in Wall Township for 48 years before moving to Brick in 1998. Walter worked for over 30 years with the New Jersey State police in the Marine Bureau retiring at the rank of Sergeant in 1993. He was a communicant of Church of St. Martha, Point Pleasant, NJ. Walter was an avid bowler and bowled in several leagues at Sea Girt Lanes. He also enjoyed playing poker, his trips to Atlantic City, playing bocce at Cedar Village, Brick and was an avid New York Yankee and NY Giants fan.

Walter was predeceased by his parents George and Caroline Planer; two brothers William and Robert Planer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Bernice (nee Younnizzie) Planer of Brick; a son Walter Planer, Jr.; four daughters and their spouses Marianne (Karl) Stahl of Point Pleasant Boro, Barbara (Bill) Feiss of Howell, Cathy Planer of Brick and Karen (Geoff) Bunt of Brielle. Walter is also survived by seven grandchildren Billy Feiss, Jennifer (Dan) Smith, Leanne Feiss, Karl Stahl IV, Brian Stahl, Joseph and Ethan Bunt; and a great-grandson Cayden Smith.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, December 13 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 am Wednesday, December 14 at Church of St. Martha, Point Pleasant. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine's Mausoleum, Sea Girt.
