Ocean Grove - Walteretta "Wally" Smith passed from this life Saturday 17 March 2018 at the age of 107 at her residence of 10 years, Allegria, formerly Francis Asbury Manor, Ocean Grove. Wally was a long time resident of Asbury Park residing there since 1952 after moving from her mother's home in Neptune City. Born in Jersey City 21 September 1910 to Harry and Edna (nee Barr)Davis, the family removed to Englishtown after her father's death in 1913. They moved again to Neptune City in 1924. After graduating from Asbury Park High School, Wally worked for the telephone phone company for over20 years. She married William B. "Bill" Smith in 1948 and became a homemaker while she raised her sons. After Bill's death in 1971, she began working for the City of Asbury Park Beach Department retiring after 32 years at the age of 97. Wally was an avid bowler, she also enjoyed walking and "Jeopardy". She was a member of the Holy Spirit School PTA through the 1950's and early 60's. A member of St. James Episcopal Church Bradly Beach, she volunteered at the Food Pantry for many years.

Predeceased by her parents, husband Bill and brothers and their spouses E.Brandt (Dorothy) and Durward (Emma) Davis, Wally is survived by her sons Pádraic (Suzanne), Graniteville, VT and Richard (Joyce), Eastampton, NJ and their children; Ian (Rachel) Smith, Atlanta GA; Fianna (Travis) Verret, Barre, VT; Shire Smith, Portland OR; Brian Smith, Boston MA and Gregory Smith, Philadelphia, PA and 5 great-grandchildren. Her brother's children F Brandt Davis, Howell, NJ; Cheryl (Grant) Levis, FL;Larry (Susan) Davis, Neptune, NJ; Pamela (Tom) Hayden, Ephrata, PA.

Visiting hours will be Thursday 9-10:30 at Buckley Funeral Home, 509 2nd Ave, Asbury Park,NJ. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM in St James Episcopal Church, 4th and Hammond Avenues Bradley Beach, NJ. Interment St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt.
