AGE: 80 • Port Monmouth

William August, Sr., 80, of Middletown passed away Monday May 29, 2017. William was born and raised in Newark before moving to Middletown

William was fortunate to share his life not only with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren but two beautiful women, the loves of his life, Grace August and Barbara August. William worked as a Technician for Bayshore Veterinary Hospital in Holmdel for 27 years, after he retired he worked for PNC Art Center Security until 2012. William was an avid animal lover, fisherman, and hunter. He enjoyed teaching not only his family, but many friends to fish and hunt. He once said, "There is no greater look, then the look of a kid who caught their first fish." There was nothing that could hold him back!

William is survived by his 6 loving children: Susan Sherman and her husband Anthony of Port Monmouth; William August, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Howell; Katherine Faulkenberg of Florida; Matthew August and his wife Debbie of Middletown; Lance August and his wife Jane of Lanoka Harbor; Manuel August and his wife Elizabeth of Brick; and William Boyd. He is also survived by sisters: Katie Quilban of Cliffwood Beach and Ginny Good of Keansburg, and brothers: Larry Ladota, and his wife Sheryl of Pennsylvania and Artie Gilman and his wife Josephine of Toms River. William, Pop-Pop, is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

William was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Mildred August; his first wife, Grace August; and his second wife, Barbara August; as well as a brother, Manuel August and his sister, Phyllis Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd. Middletown. A funeral service will be offered on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
