Ocean Grove - William Carey "Bill" Zimmerman, 85, of Ocean Grove, died peacefully at Jersey Shore Medical Center on March 15th, 2018. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karla, Daughter Laura Graham (Michael), Son Tom Zimmerman (Ines), Granddaughter Tara Steadman (Ken), Grandson Sean Graham and step Granddaughters Valerie and Virginia Grimm. Bill graduated from Neptune High School in 1950. Mr. Zimmerman proudly served in the United States Army 511th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He worked at the Pathway Market in Ocean Grove. He was a Display Advertising Executive for 34 years for the Asbury Park Press and was a longtime member of the Washington Fire Company of the Ocean Grove Fire Department, serving as Chief twice and Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. He was also a member of the Ocean Grove First Aid Squad where he served as Captain and President. Bill was an Ocean Grove Auditorium Usher for 64 years. Bill was a Mason, Past Master of Ocean Lodge #89 in 1988. He was a communicant of St James Episcopal Church in Bradley Beach for over 50 years and was a life member of The American Legion in Neptune Bill loved the beach and was a diehard Giants football fan. Mr. Zimmerman was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Rena Zimmerman and by his infant Daughter Christine in 1969. A Viewing will be held Thursday March 22nd, 2018 from 2-4pm with a masonic service beginning at 3;00pm and 7-9pm at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home,118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. The funeral will be held at 10;30 at the funeral home with the burial to follow at Monmouth Memorial Park on Route 33 in Tinton Falls.In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Bill's memory to either St James Episcopal Church in Bradley Beach or the Ocean Grove Washington Fire Company.
