William Cox Jr. Obituary
William Cox Jr.

AGE: 77 • Whiting

William Cox Jr, 77, of Whiting passed away on Sunday February 12, 2017. Born to the late William Cox Sr and Elizabeth Cox, William spent his formative years running the streets of Nutley, New Jersey. There was not a Catholic Nun for miles who did not know his name. Predeceased by his brother Michael Cox and brothers-in-law Jack Adelhelm and Edward Peters. William is survived by his sisters Margaret Peters, Elizabeth Adelhelm, Catherine Schilling and her husband Leonard, and sister in law Rosemary Cox.

William was the loving father of, and survived by, Loreen Reiman and her husband David, Colleen Rembach and her husband Kevin, and William J Cox and his wife Melissa. William is also survived by his grandchildren Lisa Flores and her husband Carlos, Doug Reiman, Bobby Miano, Kevin Jr, Sean, and Kyle Rembach. Amber, William Jr, Jacob, Luke, Erin, Cody, and Elizabeth Cox. Great grandchildren Eli, Eva, and Aspen Flores. In addition, William was survived by his former wife Gail Cox, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

William was born with the Irish gift of gab, and at the age of 17 began travelling the world, courtesy of the United States Navy. After a distinguished 20 year Naval career, William settled in Whiting, New Jersey, where he raised his family, and began his second career as the purchasing manager for Ralph Clayton and Sons Concrete. It was during this time that he refined his dry sense of humor, which was appreciated by most.

William was an avid bowler, and he never met a golf course, or bottle of red wine, he could not conquer. His affinity for Cadillacs, gold jewelry and the Three Stooges did not go unnoticed. Not one to outwardly express his feelings, when you were around him, you knew you were loved. He is already missed.

Visiting will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd. Toms River, NJ. A funeral service will be held 10 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
