AGE: 87 • Bradley Beach

William F. (Chief) Harrington, 87 of Bradley Beach passed away Thursday February 2, 2017 at Manor by the Sea with his family by his side. Bill was born and raised in Englewood and graduated from St. Cecilia High School where he proudly played football for the infamous Coach, Vince Lombardi and received his bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University. He served in the Army National Guard. Bill retired as Acting Chief from the Englewood Police Department after 16 years of service. After retirement Bill became Director of Security for New York State Power Authority. He also designed security systems for police departments, nuclear power plants and for the DeLorean Motor Company in Belfast, Ireland. Bill was an award winning competitive marksman, an avid fisherman, chef and gardener. He was also a master photographer who invented the tri-lens camera used by law enforcement.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years Sandy in 1995; his parents Frank and Elizabeth Harrington and a brother Dennis Harrington. He is survived by his children Sharon Harrington (George Sullivan) of Bradley Beach, NJ, William Harrington of Portland, OR, Colleen Harrington, Bradley Beach, Ellen Harrington of West Palm Beach, FL, Kathleen (Daniel) Mullen of Browns Mills, NJ, Thomas (Tary) Harrington of Hamilton, NJ, and Michael (Marie) Harrington of Turnersville, NJ. Bill is also survived by his brother Rev. Ashley J Harrington O'Carm of Englewood, NJ, 15 loving grandchildren and 6 cherished great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday February 8, 2017 from 3-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrate Bill's life on Thursday, February 9th at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 55 W. Demarest Avenue, Englewood, NJ. Visitation will take place at the church at 10 a.m. and interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly will follow Mass.
