AGE: 77 • Manahawkin

William G. Smith, 77, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away on Saturday March 18, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, moving to Morganville in 1964 where he raised his family before moving to Freehold, NJ and then finally to Manahawkin, NJ 10 years ago with his wife and grandson Nicholas Maldonado. William loved his work, he was the founder, owner, and operater of Beacon Metal Co. in both Freehold and South Amboy, NJ. He started on Beacon Hill Rd in Morganville. In 1971 he outgrew the property and bought his yard in Freehold where he continued to build his empire. He eventually expanded to his second location in South Amboy. When he wasn't at work he enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and was a great story teller. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his loving wife Natalie Smith of 20 years , his parents William B and Margaret Smith, a son Allen Smith, and daughter in law June Smith. Surviving are his children Pamela Cohn, William Smith Jr., Reneé Havens, Debbie and Clyde Cameron, Natalie DeDona, Michael and Fran DeDona .His sister Carol Stochel, as well as 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751 on Thursday March 23, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday March 24, 2017 at 10am at St. Clements Church, Matawan, NJ followed by entombment in the Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro, NJ.
