William J. Brannick Obituary
William J. Brannick

AGE: 67 • Brielle

William J. Brannick, Jr., 67 of Brielle passed away on Sunday September 10, 2017 at his home. Bill was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ and had lived in Matawan, summered in Breton Woods and resided in Brielle for almost 40 years. Bill was a 1968 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and later graduated from Ocean County College with a nursing degree and also from St. Peter's University with a degree in Accounting. He was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan. Bill worked as a psychiatric nurse with patients of all ages at Riverview Medical Center, Marlboro State Hospital and Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center. After serving as psychiatric nurse he became a nurse administrator for the State of NJ retiring in April. Bill is best known by his coworkers for a smiling positive outlook on life, and his sense of humor having a joke or pun for every situation. No matter the joke, or how many times you heard it, he always nailed the delivery bringing a smile to your face which brought one to his. Some of his best material was based on his Irish heritage which was reflected through his irish brouge. In his free time Bill enjoyed doing taxes for close family and friends, because hey, someone had to fund the Spirit "9 dollar airfares" to his island paradise. As an avid fisherman, Bill spent free time enjoying his "Favorite B's" beach, boating and beer. His happy place was on the lanai of his condo or sitting in the Gulf of Mexico in Marco Island Florida watching the sunset. Joanie always knew if she returned to the beach chairs after a walk and Bill wasn't there, she had one place to look, the Residents beach grills making lunch. Bill was a NY Jets fan and loved spending the afternoons rooting on his team with his daughter. This also included exchanging in friendly banter with his son who somehow became a Giants fan.

His love, commitment and devotion to his family and community was exemplified through many volunteer hours at Brielle Day selling pizzas, hours of coach ching little league with his children and his passion to be involved in voicing his opinion on policies in the Brielle community.

Bill was predeceased by his father William J. Brannick, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Joan (nee Hudak) Brannick, Brielle. Bill is also survived by his children and their spouses, William J. Brannick, III "Tripper" and his wife Kristen of Bethlehem, PA and Jennifer Brannick Morrissey and her husband Tim of Red Bank, NJ.
