William Robert Kaar

AGE: 67 • Barnegat

William Robert Kaar, 67, of Barnegat, New Jersey and formerly of Middlesex Borough and Manahawkin, died April 24, 2017 at home after a 5-year battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. Born February 17, 1950 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of the late Lester and Helen (Olock) Kaar, he was raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey.

Bill graduated from South Plainfield High School in 1968. He continued his education at Villanova University in Villanova, Pa. where he graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1982.

Bill owned and operated Wm. R. Kaar & Associates, a manufacturers' representative company, for many years. He loved playing golf and was a proud member of the Plainfield Country Club for 20 years. He had a passion for the history of gaming and Las Vegas, and enjoyed vacationing in Nevada and collecting historical gaming memorabilia. Nothing made him happier, however, that going on road trips to Cape May and Barnegat Light to go birding with his wife and granddaughter Delaney, and spending time with his family and friends.

Bill leaves his wife of 35 years, Martha (Indricovic) Kaar; daughter Jennifer Lowe; son-in-law Daniel Lowe; brother and sister-in-law Lester and Roberta Kaar; and grandchildren Delaney and Tyler Lowe.

The members of the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Jefferson University Hospital, the Southern Ocean Medical Center Transitional Care Unit and Meridian Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Saint Mary's R.C. Church, 747 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the New Jersey Audubon Society, 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bedminster, NJ 07924 or to the Popcorn Park Zoo, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731.
