Mary Duffy Klimek

AGE: 81 • formerly of Middletown

Mary Klimek, 81, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Spring Arbor Assisted Living, Leesburg, VA. Mary was born in Manchester, N.H., and she lived in New Jersey for 56 years before moving to Leesburg, Virginia three years ago. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School for Girls and received her nursing degree from Moore General Hospital Nursing School in Grasmere, New Hampshire. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Jersey City Medical Center and then as a Public Health Nurse for Jersey City. After taking time off to raise her family, she returned to her career first as a head nurse at Irvington General Hospital, Irvington, N.J., and then as Director of Nursing at Beachview Skilled Nursing Home in Keansburg, N.J. She retired from Beachview in 1996 after a rewarding and successful nursing career.

Mary was an active member of St. Catharine's Church in Holmdel, and she enjoyed many activities with friends and family, including her Monday night mah jong game and monthly luncheons. She travelled extensively with her family, spent many hours at Avon- by- the- Sea and frequented Broadway and museums in New York City. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a beloved grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Bill, and is survived by her son, Bill and his wife Christine of Middletown, N.J.; her daughter, Carolyn Zimmerman and her husband Richard of Glen Allen, Virginia; and her daughter, Susan Buckley and her husband Gene of Ashburn, Virginia and loving grandchildren, Kelsey, Matthew, Jenna, Collin, Kathleen and Evan. She also is survived by her sister Patricia Warren of Raymond, N.H.; a brother, John Duffy of Manchester, N.H., and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Barret of Bedford, N.H.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, March 5, at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown, N.J. A funeral mass will be offered at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 at St. Catharine's Church, Holmdel, N.J. A private burial will follow.
