Kenneth J. Cassell Obituary
Kenneth J. Cassell

AGE: 59 • Point Pleasant

Kenneth J. Cassell, 59, of Pt. Pleasant. Ken had a love affair with sports and NASCAR, when he wasn't watching or participating in them, he was food shopping, cooking, eating, playing with the dog, or cleverly blocking out his lovely wife's nagging. He was known for his sarcastic sense of humor, signature clams, and as a football official, the ability to handle any screaming coach - rumor has it his wife helped groom him for that. He was so amazingly patient and laid back that at times it was infuriating. Ken left this world on March 17, 2014 with his wife by his side, holding his hand.

He was predeceased by his father, Captain James Cassell who was a Firefighter with the Jersey City Fire Department. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth "Bet" "Betty Jean" Cassell and his mother, Mary-Louise Cassell, to whom he was a devoted son. He is also survived by numerous characters of his extended family. Ken graduated TCNJ with a BS in Engineering and proudly supported the troops by working as a Quality Assurance Manager for Government Contractors, most recently at Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD. He was a Head Linesman with the NJFOA for 25 years and, according to his wife, never made a bad call. Be jealous, not sad, for all in heaven are now enjoying Kenny's cooked clams and humor.

In lieu of flowers, his wife asks that a donation be made to your favorite animal shelter in Ken's memory. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Please check Barnegat Funeral Home's web site for details. (
