AGE: 88 • Tinton Falls

Margaret G. Balmer, 88 of Seabrook Village Tinton Falls, passed away on Thursday April 10, 2014. Born in Greenock, Scotland she came to the United States at the age of two. She lived in Jersey City, N.J. for 20 years before moving to Little Silver, N.J. where she lived for forty years, she has been a resident of Seabrook Village for the past seven years.

She was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church in Little Silver, N.J. She was a member of the Fort Monmouth Officer's Wife Club and served as a volunteer at Fort Monmouth's thrifty shop for over 30 years.

Margaret was the matriarch of the Balmer family, she was the heartbeat, kept the family together and laughing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend. Anyone being in her company for just a few minutes was guaranteed to laugh.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years Richard, a son; Dr. Richard and his wife Kelly of Pa., a daughter; Susan Kooistra and her husband Alan of Ga., four grandchildren; Stanley Balmer and his wife Heather, Brian Balmer and his wife Jennifer, Kelly Giorno and her husband Richard and Kevin Kooistra and his wife Jenna; four great grandchildren, Victoria Giorno, Walker Giorno, Quinn Kooistra and Brielle Balmer.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday April 15, 2014 in the atrium at Seabrook Village, 3000 Essex Road, Tinton Falls. Burial of cremains will be private at St. John's Episcopal Church at a later date.
