AGE: 97 • Atlantic Highlands

Betty R. Wallace, 97, of Atlantic Highlands, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at home. She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to her parents, the late Earl and Martha Rescorla. Betty lived in Middletown before moving to Atlantic Highlands 40 years ago. She retired after 22 years with Monmouth County Family and Children Services.

Betty was a 1939 graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor degree in Social Work, member and a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church, Atlantic Highlands, member and executive Director of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), a founding member of the ZONTA Club and Junior League of Monmouth County.

Betty is predeceased by her parents and a sister-in-law, Jane McSween. She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Wallace and Gayle's companion, Thomas Kieffer; her nephews and niece, Dave McSween and his wife Ann of Alexandria, VA, John Brenneman and his wife Esther, Holly Brenneman and her husband Ed Sharpe; her great-nieces and nephews, Allison Jensen, Gregory McSween, Katherine Hassan and Brian McSween and their families.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Hanover, PA. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church, 17 East Highland Ave., Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.
