Hugh James Stryker

AGE: 92 • Brick

Hugh James Stryker, 92, of Brick, NJ passed away peacefully on August 25, 2014. Born in Bound Brook, NJ, Hugh faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was married to Jane Foust in June 1949 after meeting her on a blind date arranged by a family friend in Huntington, IN. They had two children, James Raymond and Barbara Ann. Hugh was employed as an engineer by the Bendix Corporation (now Honeywell) for over 25 years, and was involved with the development of the Saturn rocket program and the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar. He retired in 1977 and focused on his love of fishing and boating.

Hugh was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered for his compassion and generosity. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jane; his son James and daughter-in-law Rosemary of Seneca, SC; his daughter Barbara Drummond and son-in-law Brad of Murphy, NC; his granddaughter Dr. Leslie Ann Drummond of Dayton, OH; and his two great-granddaughters Kylie Renee Stephens of Seneca, SC and Kadence Aja Stryker of Seneca, SC. Hugh was predeceased by his grandson Christopher James Stryker in 2007.

Visitation will be at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Monday, September 1, 2014 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the O'Brien Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2 at 11am with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, NJ.
