Morris Garber, 81, of Manalapan, New Jersey, died Thursday, April 1st 2010 of pancreatic cancer. Mr. Garber was born in Passaic, NJ and lived there until he was drafted for the Korean War. After the war, he lived in the New Brunswick area, and Highland Park until he resided in Manalapan in 1972. Mr. Garber graduated from Passaic H.S. and Rutgers College of Pharmacy. He earned a Masters Degree and PhD in American Social and Intellectual History at Rutgers University. He was an assistant professor at Rutgers University for many years and later worked as a pharmacist in the Monmouth County area. He was a book review editor for the New Jersey Historical Society.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ethel Garber Eiser and Louis Garber, infant brother, Nathan, and his sister Diana Dosik. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis of over 50 years, his son Joshua Garber, of Manalapan NJ, His daughter, Miriam Finkelstein and husband Greg of Princeton, NJ, and his grandchildren, Sara and Matthew Finkelstein, both of Princeton NJ and his sister Loretta Newman and husband Jack of Hyde Park.
Services will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Englishtown NJ.
