AGE: 62 BRICK
Bruce A. Belfer, 62, of Brick, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Mr. Belfer was born in Brooklyn and lived in Astoria, Queens before moving to Brick 20 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, having served on the Aircraft Carrier USS America, in the Weapons Division, from 1967 to 1971. He was employed as an I.V. Pharmacy Technician by Community Surgical Supply of Toms River. Prior to that, he was employed as a Commercial Artist for many years, and his accomplishments included album cover art. His interest in art continued throughout his life, and he was an accomplished painter and photographer. He loved the ocean. Mr. Belfer was a member of the American Legion and the USS America Carrier Veterans Association.
Mr. Belfer is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen (Shaw); his daughter, Kimberly Belfer of Jekyll Island, Ga.; his parents, David and Sylvia Belfer of Margate, Fla.; and his sister, Susan of Astoria, Queens.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Military honors will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. and funeral services will take place at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
