Alvan Field Obituary
AGE: 79 • Lanoka Harbor
Dr. Alvan Field, 79, of Islamorada, Fla. and Lanoka Harbor, N.J., died peacefully on Tuesday in Toms River, N.J., surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Maurice and Natalie Field, Oct. 15, 1932 in Boston, Mass. and graduated from Colby College in Maine, and Temple School of Dentistry in Pennsylvania. Dr. Field was a man of many passions and interests, but nothing meant as much to him as being with his family. Running a close second, though, was his love of cars and motorboats, football, tennis, horse racing, blackjack, and food, food, food, especially when shared with his family at one of his many favorite restaurants. In practice for 50 years at Beachwood Dental Arts, Dr. Field met the needs of four generations of patients. Dr. Field considered his staff and patients to be members of his family. Of his many professional accomplishments, he was most proud of his contributions to New Jersey communities as a developer of medical buildings in Toms River and as a restorer of Tuckerton's historic Main Street.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol Field; his children, Marshall, Maddie, Marty, Sam, Jaimee and Jason; and his grandchildren, Isabella, Noah, Ari, Ellie, Shayna, Jacob, Katie, Hannah, and Ruby Jane.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center at Community Medical Center, Toms River.

It was may pleasure and honor to have worked and known Dr. Field for the past 7 years. He always showed kindness and fairness to his employees and patients. Dr. Field will be greatly missed by all who have known him. My condolences to Carol

To the Field Family ,
I had the pleasure of meeting Alvan the day we took him to the hospital,He was a man full of life, He joked with me all the way to the hospital,even though he knew he may not leave the hospital he showed no fear, His bright pink lips( pepto- bismol ) we teased him and so did the nurses when he came into the emergency room about his bright pink lips (inside joke ) Condolences to his family

Last year I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Dr. Field for a business profile article. He was personable, amusing and simply one of the nicest people I've come across in a long time. My condolences to his wife Carol and entire family, he will be missed.

Marshall and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with you at the Shop Rite on Fischer Blvd. years ago and my mom was a patient of your dad's. Please know my prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. From now on, when you smile, he will be smiling too and forever in your hearts, and all the people he has touched.
