Antonio "Tone" Carmine Nanna

AGE: 94 • Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Antonio "Tone" Carmine Nanna, 94, a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL for 14 years, departed this life peacefully at home on Sunday, June 24, 2012 with his loved ones by his bedside. Mr. Nanna was born July 19, 1917 in Astoria, Long Island NY and moved to Port St. Lucie from Toms River, NJ. He was the son of Joseph and Palma Albanese Nanna. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany. He graduated from Officer's Candidate School and Officer's Gunnery #98 school. He was a Captain, a Reconnaissance Unit Commander and an Intelligence Officer and also received two Bronze Stars and numerous other war decorations. Following his military service, Mr. Nanna was a former vice president of the New Jersey Restaurant Association. He was a restaurateur having owned the Stone Hearth Inn in Ridgefield, NJ, Nansen's in Toms River, NJ, the renowned Ye Old Cedar Inn in Toms River, NJ, which he owned for 16 years, and the Seven Queens Quarters in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Mr. Nanna was also affiliated with the Colts Neck Inn in Colts Neck, NJ. In addition to being a successful restaurant owner, he also had his Real Estate and Insurance licenses for the State of New Jersey. He traveled extensively collecting traditional region recipes, to enhance his everyday love of cooking. He was also an avid snow skier.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Will Nanna; son Randolph Nanna of Maryland; daughter Marlene Wenslow and her husband Charles of North Carolina; niece Elizabeth Nanna of Pennsylvania; special niece Stacy Randall Lewis and her husband Kevin of New Jersey; nephew Gregory Nielsen and his wife Patricia of Florida; 3 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his longtime nurse, Ann Marie Evans; and his beloved Bichon, Nico.

Friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 until he funeral service at 11 a.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall.
