Frank P. Delle Donne, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. Born on Staten Island (Arrochar) on June 18, 1928, he graduated from New Dorp High School in 1945. Immediately joined the Marine Corps after HS and served at the end of WWII in China. After his service, he attended Syracuse University and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Engineering. He worked for the USDA in Washington, DC before relocating to Staten Island in 1954. He then worked for Page Detroit, Inc., Continental Can and Diamond International before retiring in 1982. Frank enjoyed the outdoors. He was a power boater, sailor and even flew a single engine plane out of the old Staten Island Airport where the Staten Island Mall now stands. He sailed the Intra-coastal Waterway on his trawler, Tiempo, between Great Kills Harbor and Ft. Lauderdale, FL a number of times. His crew and first mate included his wife, Gloria and brother-in-law, William Farella. Frank enjoyed driving to Atlantic City and could roll the bones with the best of them. They even traveled to the Monte Carlo Casino in the Principality of Monaco. Their travels also included a five week, round trip drive across the country and travel through Europe. Frank and his wife, Gloria were married on June 27, 1953. This year, he and his wife celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. For their 50th anniversary, they hosted a party with approximately 200 of his closest friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria. He is also survived by three children and daughters-in-law, Lynn Delle Donne of West Hurley, NY, Dean and Sue Delle Donne of Wading River, NY and Frank and Annemarie Delle Donne of Colts Neck. He is survived by his five grandchildren, Dr. Andrew, Brian, Lauren, Kristen and Nicole, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the John V. Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, NY. Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday Frank would always be there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. In keeping with his spirit of helping others, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
