George Ryser Obituary

George W. Ryser Jr.

AGE: 69 • Lincroft

George "Butch" W. Ryser, Jr., 69, of Lincroft, NJ passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 7, 2014. Born in Long Branch, NJ., George grew up in Little Silver, NJ with his parents, George W. and Marjorie E. Ryser in addition to his two sisters and brother.

After he and Shirley M. Evans wed in 1967, they resided in Lincroft, NJ where they raised their family. George is a 1962 Graduate of Red Bank High School, Red Bank, NJ. Serving in the United States Coast Guard, George then worked for the Railway Express Agency in Red Bank, NJ followed by a 37-year career with Lawes Coal Company, Inc., Shrewsbury, NJ, retiring in 2013. At the time of his death he partnered with his son at Ryser's Landscape Supply, Little Silver, NJ.

A member of Christ Church, Shrewsbury, NJ., and the National Rifle Association, George was a pigeon fancier who was extremely proud of his "Racing Homer" pigeons of which he raced for many years. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and his gardens. Although George's life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by his friendly, caring and giving ways understand the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. George's willingness to help those in need, always placing them before himself, brought much joy and happiness to his family and countless friends. A Dear Friend to all, "Butch" was "THE MAN" and he will be sorely missed.

Predeceased by his devoted wife Shirley in 1985 and his parents; George is survived by his two dedicated sons, George W. Ryser, III and his wife Dana, Lincroft, NJ; Martin B. Ryser and his wife Carol, Little Silver, NJ and his four grandchildren Devin, Taylor, Dylan and Kylie. He is also survived by his loving companion Patricia Figaro, Little Silver, NJ, her children Aby and Christopher and three grandchildren; his sisters Marion L. Phillips, Red Bank, NJ and Marjorie L. Durdack, Galloway, NJ; and his brother Philip J. Ryser and wife Beverly, Little Silver, NJ.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank. The funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11th, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.

Someone Is Missing On Christmas Eve

Let this be a loving reminder,
That someone is missing tonight,
Someone our hearts still hold on to,
As we travel along life's flight.

Someone who made life so special,
For all those who gather near,
Someone who won't be forgotten,
But cherished from year after year.

And now as we pause to remember,
Let us all fondly recall,
How dearly each of us loved him,
And oh .. how he loved us all!

Missing you on Christmas Eve Butchie and always .. We Love You! XOXO!

GOD BLESS YOU BUTCHIE

MISSING YOU ON YOUR BIRTHDAY

As the sunrise spreads its beauty,
On this your special day,
Our hearts are filled with sadness,
That will never go away.

Since you went to be with Jesus,
Life has never been the same,
Yet it comforts all of us to know,
One day we'll meet again.

Until that precious day draws nigh,
We'll relive each memory,
Of all the happy times we shared,
Together .... family.

You are near, even if we don't see you. You are with us, even if you are far away. You are in our hearts, in our thoughts, on our minds and in our lives always. We close our eyes and speak to you in a thousand silent ways. We love you Butchie .... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

~ TO A "REEL" DAD ~

We had a "line" on you DAD,
The things you'd say and do.
We noticed when you'd "tackle" things,
You'd always see them through.

Your understanding and fair play,
Were "cast" without a fuss.
That's why we did not worry when,
You'd get a "line" on US!

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

At sunrise when we awake,
we realize you are gone.
Although it's been a while now,
it's hard to carry on.

Our hearts are full of sadness,
and many tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you,
no one can ever know.

Our thoughts are always with you,
your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly,
you're gone we love you still.

There'll always be a heartache,
and too a silent tear.
Those many precious memories,
of days when you were near.

If tears could build a staircase,
and heartaches make a way.
We'd walk the stairs to heaven,
and bring you home to stay.

We hold you close within our hearts,
and there you shall remain.
You'll walk with us throughout our lives,
until we meet again.

~ THE DAY YOU WENT AWAY ~

Today's the Anniversary,
Of the day you went away,
And for a time it felt as though,
Our lives had gone astray.

But loss has taught us many things,
And now we face each other,
With hope and cherished memories,
Of our loving, guiding Brother.

Although we're full of sadness,
That you're no longer here,
Your influence still leads us,
And we still feel you near.

The love we shared will never die,
It lives within our hearts,
Bringing strength and comfort,
While we are apart.

Memories of you BUTCHIE are the flowers in the gardens of our hearts, WE LOVE YOU SO! Till We Meet Again -XO

One year ago today, in the early morning of February 7, 2014, our beloved Butchie passed away. Today, we embrace life fully and generously, with much gratitude, despite experiencing this inevitable sorrow, knowing that Butchie's life, because of what he was and stood for, was a bit of Heaven on Earth. May we all be so blessed. God Bless you Butch, and God Bless us all. So missed. XXXXOOOO

MERRY CHRISTMAS BUTCHIE XO!

December 13, 2014

Dear Butchie,

Christmas brings back memories,
Of such happy times with you,
Of all the fun and laughter,
And things we used to do.

It's funny how those memories now,
Can break a heart for sure,
For Dear Butchie they remind us,
Of how we miss you more.

But we know your love will guide us,
Through the sadness and the pain,
And bring us peace at Christmas,
Until we meet again.

To the dearest man upon this earth,
We know that we were blessed,
And we pray the Christmas angels,
Bring you sweet eternal rest.

MERRY CHRISTMAS BUTCHIE!
WE LOVE YOU!
XOXO!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUTCHIE
~ OCTOBER 4 ~

We wish that you were here today,
if for just a while,
so we could say Happy Birthday Butch,
and see your wonderful smile.

But the only gifts today will be,
the gifts you left behind,
the laughter, joy and happiness,
precious memories - the best kind.

Today we'll do our very best,
to try and find a place,
struggling with our heavy hearts,
and tears upon our face.

Gazing quietly at your picture,
thinking of you with love,
praying genuine peace you found,
in Heaven up above.

May the Angels keep you ever close,
until we meet again,
as we send our devoted, faithful love,
to our Father, Brother and Friend.

WE LOVE YOU XO!

Marty and Family,
I just found out about your fathers passing from one of the Lawes men who was at the house. It was a great shock. Your father was a great man. He was always a straight shooter and a gentleman. It was amazing on how he juggled the guys in Lawes. He made it look easy. Marty he was so proud of you and what you created there by those tracks. I will sorely miss him. However he is the guy who will be watching over his family that he truly molded to perfection.

Lots of love to you all,
Django

Marion and family, Trisha and I just found out about Butchie having dinner last night with a friend who told us. We were so upset because we would have been at the funeral home to show our respect and love for him. I am so sorry for his loss and for all of you. Please accept my apology for not being there. Trisha and I always talked about him and I know, for sure, my father loved him. They were very similar people. God bless you all.

George was one of the good guys... when he found my son (2 1/2 years old) was battling cancer, he embrace our family and invited Tony to come to Lawes and ride the John Deere tractors. Every time Tony came to visit, he dropped everything and gave him his undivided attention. My son took to George like I haven't seen before or since he got sick. He's been cancer free for 7 years now and George was there for every one of them. Tony will miss you George.
